Hi im kayla, im currently 16 years old. I had to go through a lot of hard times back in florida. i was taken away from my home a few months ago and put into foster care because it was safest place at the time... however, i think because i am 16 and going to be 18 soon i should be allowed to do "almost" anything i want. at the foster home i was not given any freedom... so my grandparents had taken me from there and i now live in south carolina. They on the other hand still don't give me any freedom whats so ever besides attending a school function. (games etc.) I cant have a friend sleep over, i cant stay at a friends, i cant even just go over to a friends house for an hour.. i cant wear what i want even though what i wear isnt even close to what other girls in my school choose to wear.......... I think at the age of 16 i should have a decent curfew like 12 (the way i had it with me dad) on weekends and 9 on school nights, i think i should be allowed to go over anyones house but not be allowed to sleep over unless they "know" the parents well enough (which should be a few weeks not months). I think i should be allowed to wear what i want considering i will be 18 in a year basically and will have the freedom to do WHATEVER i please. It makes me so angry because i dont have the freedom i had anymore and its really hard because if i did i wouldnt abuse it like other teenagers.... my dad knew that. I would like to know if i was 17 in south carolina can i be able to run away and stay at a friends house until i graduate? and if it is possible that i don't HAVE to return to my grandparents would i have the DSS on my case because of what happened to me in florida? would i end up having to return to a foster care in florida ?? I just need to know because i was hoping to take it easy for now.. and when summer comes around i would talk to my grandparents more about freedom and if i couldnt have it then when i am 17 i would just run away and leave a note behind.
