Hi, I am a British history postgraduate student with a special interest in the 19th century. I have not studied American History in great detail before but am now looking at the life of Harriet Jacobs and the historical context of her experiences. I understand that attitudes and laws around slavery changed quickly and repeatedly in the first half of the 18th century and need to go through her narrative to relate her experiences with changing attitudes etc in North Carolina.
